I was at my local Barnes & Noble yesterday and bought a book I just can’t seem to put down. It’s called, “A Million Bucks by 30: How to Overcome a Crap Job, Stingy Parents, and a Useless Degree to Become a Millionaire Before (or After) Turning Thirty,” by Alan Corey.
When Alan finished college, he set a goal for himself. He decided that he was going to become a millionaire by the time he reached age 30. This book details Alan’s journey in doing just that. I can’t put this book down! The author is hysterical recounting all the things he did in order to save money such as living in the NY projects, surviving on peanut butter and ramen noodles, cutting back on all “wants,” as well as saving approximately 65% of his paycheck (in NY?!).
He also gives detailed accounts of how he earned extra money away from his day job in order to reach his final goal. Things like becoming a reality tv “whore,” participating in focus groups, and offering himself up as a guinea pig for research studies among other things.
Not only did the author have persistence and determination, he had the sheer will to learn what it took to make his dream come true. He devoured information about investing, real estate, personal finance and more. He relied on his instincts when it came to investment choices, and ways to earn extra money. He quickly learned that if things seemed too good to be true, then they probably were!
Alan Corey tells his story with both humor and honesty, and I guarantee you will be hooked from the very first page! It’s a must-read for not only wannabe entrepreneurs, but anyone that’s looking for ways to save money, earn extra money, and/or needs convincing or reassurance about the power of having goals.
