Why I Started This Blog

I started writing this blog back in 2009 because my friends and family were always asking me what I was doing to make money. It seemed that I always had a new way to earn extra cash that was different than the time before! You see, once I hung up my corporate heels to stay home and raise my son, I discovered a new passion: figuring out different ways to make money from home, so I could still be with my son. At the time, I really just wanted enough extra money to afford my specialty coffee drink habit and a few other extras. I also found that finding new ways to save money could be fun and challenging. I was all in!

MY PASSION

My passion became finding new ways to earn money and be home with my kids (I had a daughter a few years later), as well as being available for my family. You could almost call it an obsession! It was an exciting challenge to earn my own money from home, affording the extras and funding my own IRA, all while maintaining a balanced married life that included caring for two children, a home, and taking advantage of volunteering opportunities.

MY BELIEF

I believe that every parent who has the opportunity to stay at home with their children should consider learning new skills, sharpening existing ones, and continuing to save for the unexpected. You never know if you’ll need or want to return to work once the kids are in school full-time. Additionally, it’s an advantage if a stay-at-home parent can continue to save for retirement or contribute to the family’s savings while away from the workforce.

There’s no explaining the feeling of empowerment you get from being able to help in this capacity and knowing that you can take care of yourself and your family if you are ever called upon to do so. The only way to do this is to work in some capacity from home, if being home with the kids is your top priority and feasible.

MY GOAL

My goal with this blog is to utilize my experience and background to offer tips to those who want to earn extra money from home by leveraging their business acumen and DIY skills, as well as ways to save money or spend less on the things you need and want.
