Looking to buy gift cards at a discount for a gift for that someone special, or to use for every day purchases, travel or entertainment? You’re in luck because over the past several years, many online discount gift card websites have popped up to meet the demand of so many people looking for bargains, discounts and coupons in an economy that’s packing a punch to everyone’s wallet these days.
I don’t know about you, but when I’m stuck for buying a gift for someone, I always head to my local supermarket and peruse the large display of gift cards to find just the right card for the gift recipient. I never even thought of checking online until recently to buy gift cards at a discount. Granted, the discount isn’t huge, but if you save $3 or more on a $25 gift card, and the card is shipped for free, why wouldn’t you do it? The only thing standing in my way is my ability to plan ahead for those occasions when a gift card is the best choice as a present for someone, or to supplement a gift I already purchased.
When I did a search on Google for “buy gift cards at discount,” I came up with the following websites that provided discounted gift cards:
I happen to be in the market for a Dunkin’ Donuts gift card for my mother-in-law since her birthday is coming up soon, so I checked all of the above websites for such a gift card. As of this morning, only Giftcardgranny had Dunkin’ Donuts gift cards listed. However, the cards listed were being auctioned off on eBay. I don’t mind if the card is on eBay, but I needed a “Buy it Now” option, and none of the auctions had that feature. In this case, I don’t have time to watch an auction for five to seven days to save a couple of bucks! I did, however, see a good discounted Starbucks offer on eBay that was for a gift card with a $0 balance, but came with 2 free Starbucks drink vouchers for $5.
You see per eBay’s rules, this seller can’t sell the vouchers, so he’s selling the gift card, and throwing in the vouchers as a bonus. I’ve used a voucher like these “bonus” vouchers before. They are vouchers that are given to you when you have been inconvenienced at a Starbucks location, like when you have to wait too long for your drink to be made, or your drink was made wrong. I believe they are good on any size drink (someone correct me if I’m wrong).
So I may not have found the Dunkin’ Donuts gift card I was looking for on the discounted gift card websites, but I’m sure I can come up with another discounted gift card my mother-in-law will like to go with another gift I already have for her, but at least I’m now aware of what discounted gift cards are available.
In addition, I came up with a cool little idea that could help you make money online using some of these discounted gift cards that I will write about in a subsequent post.
