Black Friday Online Tips 2017
Be sure to check out my list of the most popular stores with Black Friday sales at the bottom of this post!
Black Friday Shopping – The Past…
I’ve been writing a post almost every year about Black Friday online tips. Years ago, when the kids were really young, I got super excited about Black Friday. I would get up early, grab my coffee and head out the door into the cold, dark morning. As I drove my car past my neighbors’ homes, still dark with sleeping owners inside, I convinced myself that I wasn’t crazy, and the awesome deals I would score would be completely worth the absurdity. Besides, I could sleep later that day. It wasn’t until I eased my car out of my neighborhood and onto the main road, that I realized I wasn’t alone.
Black Friday Shopping – The Present…
Many Black Friday’s have come and gone since I exchanged the pre-dawn excursion to the mall for the more pleasant experience of sitting at my kitchen island in my pj’s, sipping my coffee, and surfing the internet for the same type of deals–some better–than the mall stores could offer. No driving around looking for a parking spot, running from store to store to find what I wanted before it was gone, or dealing with the crowds. Nope. Just me in the kitchen with my computer and debit card in hand. The house will be quiet because I will still get up early. Like every other year, I will also be prepared.
Black Friday Shopping – Preparation is Key
It’s too easy to get distracted on the computer when you’re Black Friday online shopping. You have to know the websites you want to visit before the day arrives. Not unlike brick and mortar stores, the websites will also have limited stock of the best finds. Preparation is key, so below I’ve listed links to your favorite stores’ Black Friday deals page online. Most of the stores already have pre-sales going on. If a store doesn’t have their deals page online yet, they will soon.
Black Friday Online Tips – What to Do First
1) Go to SlickDeals.net
Slickdeals.net is one of my favorite websites for finding the best online shopping deals. Go to their Hot Deals Forum and scroll through the user rated deals before you do anything else. You just may find an excellent deal on the product you’re looking for, or find a better deal on a competing product. In addition, since users rate the deals at Slickdeals, you may find the deal you thought was great, isn’t so great. You also may find out that the perfect gift you were going to buy for a family member, isn’t even a good product. While at Slickdeals, be sure to check out the Black Friday 2017 Deals Discussion, and monitor the Slickdeals Live Feed!
2) Visit RetailMeNot.com
If the Slickdeals Hot Deals Forum doesn’t already point you to a coupon, check out RetailMeNot to score Black Friday Deals at up to 75% Off. They have over 500,000+ coupons listed for 50,000 stores. Also, download the RetailMeNot app if you plan on leaving your home to shop at the store. You will then have access to all the available coupons right on your phone!
3) Start Your Online Black Friday Shopping Through Ebates
If you’re not familiar with Ebates, it’s a cashback website where you earn cash back just for shopping at participating merchants. I always start my online shopping from the Ebates website, or you can add the Ebates cash back button to your browser so you always know when there’s cash back being offered at any website you visit.
In addition, I’ve included a couple of apps I use to continuously check deals the stores have added. Also, if the product you want is “out of stock” by the time you get on the computer on Black Friday…there’s always Cyber Monday!

Black Friday Recommended Apps
The following three apps are my favorite for Black Friday shopping online or in the stores. They’re available for both iPhone and Android. What I especially like about the Slickdeals app – and I’m quoting one of the reviewers for this app because I agree with them – is that the Slickdeals users have rated all the Black Friday deals so you can easily see which ones are worth fighting for.
If you find your deals through any of these apps, like I mentioned above, start your shopping through Ebates to get those additional savings by getting cash back!
- Slick Deals
- Brad’s Deals
- RetailMeNot
Again, preparation for the biggest shopping day of the year is key! You have plenty of time to make your plan…just make sure you don’t overspend your budget. Just because something is a great deal, it’s really not if you can’t afford it.
What are your plans for Black Friday? Are you shopping online, in the stores, or not at all? Please share in the comments!
