Make Money Blogging As This Type of Blogger
Do you know what the three most popular search topics are?
• Online dating
• Make money online
• Weight loss
That means if you start a blog on any one of these topics, you have a very large, almost guaranteed audience waiting for you.
Unless you’ve used online dating and have lots of personal tips to offer, it would be hard to become an expert in this field. The same thing with “making money online” – until you’ve struck gold, it is hard to advise others.
However, nearly everyone on the planet has dabbled with weight loss at some point in their lives. Therefore, you are a ready-made expert in the field. Why not put your experience and knowledge to work?
Putting in the Effort
Just because you have a huge earning potential in front of you doesn’t mean the process will be easy. Weight loss blogging is a highly competitive niche. That means you can’t just throw up some articles about diet and exercise and expect to be a success.
You have to put in more effort. You have to consider your audience and how you can provide them with unique, relevant and highly valuable content that they want to read.
That fact isn’t meant to discourage you though – on the contrary. With some planning, you can make a blog that generates traffic from interested readers.
Be a Real Person – Not Just a Money-Making Blogger
Make sure your personality shines through in everything you write. There is plenty of information about weight loss that is easily accessible to anyone with the internet, so you have to give readers a good reason to read what you have to write.
The easiest way to get people to consistently check your blog for updated content is to connect with them. And people connect with other people, not with articles. That’s why you have to be sure your readers can see the human being behind the words.
Focus on Design
While the writing will be the main focus of your blog, you can’t neglect the design if you want to be successful. The way your blog looks will have a tremendous impact on whether or not your blog will get read. With so much content available people make snapshot judgments. Within two seconds of arriving, some people will decide that your blog is not for them. That’s why you have to carefully choose your color scheme and layout.
For example, colors have meaning.
• Black is equated with power and elegance.
• Green represents health and vitality.
• Blue is calming, offering reassurance and security.
• Purple commands authority.
You can technically use any color scheme that facilitates legibility and readability, but these four colors are the ideal selection for your chosen niche.
Pick Your Name Wisely
A lot of thought should go into choosing the right domain name . It needs to immediately communicate the fact that your blog is about weight loss. It should also be original and draw interest. Think about that person you want to come through when you write and make sure the domain name reflects that.
However, don’t be too much of a salesperson in the URL – Lose15PoundsInAMonth is too spammy. Likewise, don’t go too far with the SEO – BestWeightLossAdvice sounds too much like a marketing pitch.
Readers will react negatively to both attempts to cheat the system.
Don’t Be a One Trick Pony
Your loyal readers will quickly become bored if you are offering the same thing over and over again. Rather than post one article after another, try to branch out a bit. Consider the following content ideas:
• Conduct interviews – Reach out to industry leaders. See if they will provide an insightful interview. Contact gym owners, personal trainers, dietitians, etc. You can also connect with other dieters who have found success.
• Share news – There are always noteworthy discoveries happening in the weight loss industry. Do a little research and find the latest news stories that could affect your readers.
• Do product reviews – Every day, more and more products hit the market. Many dieters are hesitant to try something new. If you do a product review and offer your insight, readers will be so appreciative. Contact companies in your niche that offer weight loss products – like vitamin injections or pre-portioned meals.
• Give Stuff Away – Everyone loves competitions and giveaways. Join the popular trend. Do a giveaway for something related to your niche – new running shoes, a health gadget, a gym trial membership, etc.
Enable Comments
An important part of a successful blog is making your readers feel like part of a community. That means allowing them communicate with each other and with you. You need to moderate the comments to make sure no one is getting out of hand, but don’t delete anything just because it is critical of you. Heated debate is a great way to generate interest.
Plan for Success
Now that you’ve decided to start a blog on weight loss, it’s time to make sure your blog is set up in a way that will maximize your success. It’s not enough to publish content when you want to get results.
Make sure that your writing is fun and that your design is inviting. Come up with a domain name that communicates who you are and what you’re doing. Also, allow comments so that your readers can develop into their own community. If you do all of these things, you have a great chance at running a successful weight loss blog.
