If you are an internet marketer, or you strive to be one, you’ve probably heard that the “money is in the list.” We are taught over and over again that if you don’t build a list of subscribers, you won’t have anyone to market products to in the future, so therefore you won’t make any REAL money in this business.
It’s true. You do need a list to market services and products to in order to make the big bucks in this game. However, it’s equally important to offer your list of subscribers valuable information that they look forward to receiving on an ongoing basis that doesn’t always include a sales pitch.
This information would come in the form of autoresponder messages otherwise known as follow-up messages that you setup once in an email marketing software system like iContact or AWeber. These messages would drip out to your subscriber base over a given time such as weeks, months or even a year. I would prefer to have one message sent out to my subscriber base each week for at least one year. That means I need 56 messages written. That’s not an easy task when I’m busy with other things like working for offline clients, writing articles for my online business, doing research, SEO, making videos, etc. You get the picture.
These messages are extremely valuable to the internet marketer, but we just don’t have the time to write them. I have some written, but definitely not a year’s worth of messages! I once purchased messages from another internet marketer, but they were all about promoting that marketer’s products.
I believe there is a huge market for someone to offer this service exclusively and become the autoresponder, follow-up messages guru. Find out what the internet marketer’s niche is, and offer to write a series of follow-up messages for them. Offer package pricing based on the number of messages written. You could even start off selling this service on Fiverr.com. Offer to write 3-5 follow-up messages in the buyer’s niche for $5. If they want more, ask them to purchase the Fiverr gig again for another 3-5 messages. This would be a way to get your feet wet and meet potential long-term clients that will continue to pay you, and hopefully pay you more off of the Fiverr website.
You could even start writing a series of follow-up messages in different niches and sell these messages on your own website or blog. Sell them as-is, or for an extra cost, you’ll customize them. The possibilities are endless!
The one requirement for a gig like this, is that you need to be a decent writer. If not, learn to be one by observing other people’s messages you receive in your own inbox. You could also offer to do a couple of messages for free so a potential client can evaluate your writing style.
If this is an opportunity you decide to pursue, let me know how it goes. Also, if you have ideas on how this idea could be expanded or improved upon, please leave a comment below.
