I’m writing this post while my family and I are on vacation in Phoenix, AZ. We are staying at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort. There are a lot of things to do here, including a “River Ranch” water park, 18-hole miniature golf course, Coyote Camp for the kids, a few different restaurants, pools, and much more. The grounds are pretty, the flowers are spectacular, and the fountains add just the right touch in each of the many courtyards scattered throughout the property.
Needless to say, there are ample photo opportunities available just here at the resort, let alone the excursions we have gone on, and still have yet to do. That leaves me with the burning question at the end of this vacation–what to do with all the pictures we’ve taken?
Luckily, I came across a great free photo organizing tool called Picasa 3 located at picasa.google.com. Not only is Picasa 3 a free photo editing software, Picasa automatically finds all the photos on your PC, wherever they are, and will organize them all into elegant albums by date. This is good for me, because I have tons of pictures scattered all over my hard drive. They’ve been taken with I think three different cameras. I have nothing organized and I dread having to add more family pictures into the abyss. I’d love to be able to have them organized into web albums, and be able to share them with my friends and family. You can read Google’s description of its’ fabulous photo finding, album building software here.
Picasa is free to download, and Picasa Web Albums provides 1 gigabyte of free storage — that’s enough space for 4,000 wallpaper-size photos.
Want to give Picasa 3 a whirl? Download it now and start getting your online photos organized! I know I will as soon as I return home.
